(en) After graduating from university, he began working as an independent architect in the early 1960s. His career in product and interior design started in 1963. He has won eight Compasso d’Oro awards and spent five years as a design consultant for Renault. Bellini designed products and interior systems for renowned brands such as B\&B Italia, Cassina, Brionvega, and Yamaha.

(en) In 1972, he was commissioned to design and build the prototype of the mobile environment *Kar-a-Sutra* for the exhibition *Italy: The New Domestic Landscape* at MoMA in New York. His international success developed primarily in the field of design and reached its peak in 1987 with a personal retrospective exhibition at MoMA. The museum included 25 of his works in its permanent collection. In the same year, he founded Mario Bellini Associati SRL, which later became Mario Bellini Architects, headquartered in Milan.

(en) From a young age, he always carried a pencil in his hand and never stopped drawing. The first thing he ever designed was an inkwell and a funnel shaped like a human figure, complete with arms and legs. He consistently sought to incorporate aspects of anthropomorphism into his creations. That’s why he was always in search of human expressions and aimed to convey them through his work. To him, every object had a face, eyes, a nose, and vivid expressions. His curiosity was instantly sparked whenever he encountered a new object.
